• Basic Edition is meant as a named user licensing and can be used for all of our products, ie. Enterprise Architect (Professional, Corporate, Unified or Ultimate) Edition or an add-in product (eg MDG MDG Link, integration, MDG Technology) on the computer and user account that you are using. The license is unlimited to use, only access to the download area are limited to 12 months, but can be renewed by a renewal. An upgrade from Basic to floating mechanism is of course possible.
• Shared / Concurrent / Floating keys - is a central shared key store (file-based or via http service) the key will leased - any numbers of instances of Enterprise Architect can be installed, the number of concurrent applications (concurrent use) is determined by the number of Floating Keys available in the store. It is also possible to use this service, cross over location and companywide. The Keystore service is included in the purchase price of the floating license.

License keys can be overwritten. In case of an upgrade replaces the Key from a higher edition of Enterprise Architect the existing key. When changing from named to floating, the key must be removed and the path to the sskeys.dat file has to be entered. Floating Keys and Basic Keys have different formats and can be used only in the selected licensing form.
